At CONVAERO, we believe mankind can learn a great deal from observing nature. That is why Bio-Dry™ is a smart combination of a biological process and cutting-edge technology. A large, specially designed membrane is placed over the waste. Air channels in the ground maintain a flow of air, creating the ideal aerobic environment for the bacteria to multiply and accelerate decomposition. In the aerobic environment beneath these semi-permeable membranes, naturally occurring bacteria begin to decompose organic matter. This in turn generates thermal energy which causes temperatures under the cover to rise.

At temperatures of 60-80 degrees Celsius, the water content of the waste evaporates. This process is similar to perspiration where water vapour leaves the body through the skin. After between two and four weeks, the speed of decomposition and the number of bacteria naturally reduces. And at this point, the process is interrupted and the covers are removed. What remains of the waste is a dry, largely odourless substance that is easy to separate and recycle. This forms the basis of new, good quality products ready for sale.
