As part of the Civil Engineering Master Course of the TU München, Prof. Martin Faulstich organized a visit for the master candidates to the Waste-to-Energy Plant in Landshut, Bavaria, Germany.
Since January 3, the WtE Plant is undergoing technical maintenance and is expected to re-start activities on February 25, 2011. This situation allowed the students to take a closer look to all the different parts of the plant, including the firing grate and the combustion chamber.The incineration plant has 1 furnace in which approximately 6 t/h of rest waste are recovered as electrical energy and heat. The flue gas cleaning is possible due to 5 different cleaning stages: electrofilter, semi-dry sorption, activated carbon, a wet scrubber and a SCR reductor.
